Built in mirror above mantel

Hi, as you can see in the photo, the built in mirror above the mantel really isn’t doing anything or reflecting anything interesting. Art would probably look better. Question: Can a piece of artwork be leaned up against the mirror or should the mirror just be removed completely? Thanks!

Sure. Maybe even command strip hangers could hold a piece. You could also do a large flower arrangement. How about getting a board larger than the mirror, painting it, and attaching it outside the perimeter of the mirror on wood strips added to compensate for the thickness of the mirror.

I would remove the mirror. Your home looks updated and lovely but the mirror feels reminiscent of a 90's track home. (Also, happy birthday!)

IMO I'd remove the mirror. It's dated and doesn't enhance the room. You may have to replace drywall but worth it in such a nice space.

Close that whole area in with drywall and hang a piece of art very simple to do

We would probably recommend removing the mirror entirely and then hanging a piece of artwork there instead. Below is a design of ours that might help.
