So here is my dilemma summed up: what are your thoughts on white windows and trim but then having wood doors and baseboards?
We bought an older house from the '70s and it is sound structurally but everything else needed to be updated.
We laid white oak flooring everywhere but the bathrooms. We have natural maple cabinetry in the kitchen. Right now the casement windows are stained wood but an awful orange stain but luckily not sealed with anything else on top, and I'm still not sure how dark of a stain we would have to do in order to conceal that orange color.
I love the look of natural wood especially for doors, but I worry about having the space look dated or dark with too much wood... Another consideration is that we have baseboard radiant water heat so we will be designing decorative wood covers for those as well. I worry if we do white baseboards and white covers for the radiators that they will be impossible to keep looking clean and will look like dust collectors.
So one idea we were playing around with is white windows and trim in order to lighten the space up, and stained wood doors and baseboards to try to help the place in looking clean and also because I really do love the look of stained wood doors.
Thoughts?! I would love to hear any other ideas as well!!
