Flooring Design Dilemma

Hello, We are buying a house that has wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedrooms only-- the rest of the house has hardwood. We must replace the carpets because I have asthma-- but the price of wood floors has risen significantly because of lumber shortages, and we are on a limited budget. I strongly prefer to avoid putting in wall-to-wall carpet again-- both for health reasons and because it's not really our style. Any advice? Thanks

asthma symptoms/treatment vs. wood flooring. It's a no brainer, for me.

If your personal esthetic allows, I'd use inexpensive vinyl sheeting for now - while saving for your desired hardwood.

Personally, I would Avoid anything faux-wood because it looks awful next to real wood. If I had to change the carpet but couldn't afford hardwood, I'd do tile.

Same dilemna here - must replace old carpet from previous owner. Looked at vinyl and anything decent is as expensive as hardwood. Trying seagrass - it's sustainable and affordable.
