Who is the manufactuer of the quartz? You might try contacting them. We had some strange marks on ours when it was installed, looked like tape residue but you couldn't feel it. The installer was going to replace it but the manufactuer wanted to attempt to fix it first. They sent someone out who basically polished/sanded it. He did a wonderful job. Our quartz was from LG Viatera.

Measure the diameter of the arc please. If it's close to 4", I'd bet someone abrading the edge set a tool on the deck. It'll take a Quartz Renew kit and an experienced operator to remove.

Joseph is the subject matter expert when it comes to quartz counters. I'd listen to him.

Joseph, the arcs are half arcs, but do not hit 4”. More like 2.5” max.

Interestingly, more spots are appearing along the edge of the quartz. On the “stripes” issue, it looks like some areas are wisping out/bleeding.

Now, another larger spot has appeared in another area of the counter, too.

We are lite kitchen users, cook minimally, and I wipe down constantly. I just don’t know what’s going on and I’m so disappointed.

A rep is getting in touch with me next week; I’ve started the process of putting in a warranty request to see what they say.

Post a low level light picture with a diameter measurement please. It could be a vacuum pod mark. The appearing afterward makes me suspicious too.

Joseph, we’ve had our main light down as we put up others to see what we are replacing it with so haven’t quite had other lights. I presume by “low light” you mean non-natural light?

Here are two other spots (this time on our back counter, which I thought was unaffected). I didn’t take with a tape measure, sorry - I can do that after sundown.

Either these appeared or, because they aren’t in the direct line of natural light, I didn’t see them until last night. Again, all issues arise on the edges. The big one (probably 3”, irregular) is actually in a location that is 100% not used - it’s a back corner.

These photos are taken at night with the only light being undercab lighting.

I’d also love to know if “spiderwebbing” in the finish is to be expected. This doesn’t bother me as much as the other issues…but it’s just another thing. Sigh. Wasn’t sure if maybe it was from the protective film? Excuse the child’s cup…

Also Joseph - I stand corrected that the “latest” spot is not 3”, but 2”.

Did the reps have a sense of what the cause may have been?

Karin, the GC was just here two days ago to re-template and start the process again. The only thing he shared was that the manufacturer discovered that these slabs were some of the last few in an older production run.

Quartz is a man made product. looks like a defective product. glad they are replacing for you.
