Hi.Here is what to do

1) Post photos of what you'd like your dining room to look like (you have photos in your ideabooks, but none of dining rooms and your photos are quite the range from mcm to traditional.

2) Make sure the table is in the correct location. Do you want it centered in the room?In front of the window? Will there be a buffet?

3) Call an electrician to see if/where he can place a chandelier. At that point, you might have to be flexible on your floor plan.

Good luck!

Thank you!!! Do you have any ideas for a light fixture?

And there will be a buffet. My husband is building that.

You are welcome! 😀

The first thing you should be doing is to measure the room, meausure the table, meauure the buffet. Decide what you want your home to look like, through inspiration photos. Decide what the function of your chandelier will be (functional or simply an accent light over the table). Only then, should you be choosing a light fixture.

There is a lot of planning that takes place prior to executing a design. Otherwise, costluy mistakes are made and/or poor outcomes.

I still am not sure of what style you like, but I am seeing a marriage of more traditional and modern.

Based on that, I would recommend something like this. I don't have measurements, so have no idea if this will fit. I like that it is light and airy, and feels updated, yet has some traditional aspects.

Here is a visual for you.

I find it odd that your idea books are not showing anything like that table in style. I honestly do not like the cairs with that table and of course the fact you cannot put chairs at the end would be a PITA to me. Waht does the buffet look like then we can at least understand the style you are going for. Yes you will need an electrician to fish wire to where it is needed , As for the actual fixture I need a much better idea of the style you are going for, No matter what those drapes need to be a lot fuller for sure

Yes, designing needs to take place in this order: inspriation photos, floor plan, budget. Without those, you are guessing and making costly mistakes.

Operable drapes should be on a transom rod and 3x the width of the window. I would remove the chair rail in the living room.

Ok the first thing to remember about lighting is that it is usually the last or close to last purchase.
Art work, buffet, curtains and rug would be my focus. Right now its too hard to predict the over all feel of the room.

Here are a few dining room designs that we have completed for our clients. Please note the rugs, window treatments, artwork, mirrors, and various other decor. We suggest to call an electrician to aid you in this dilemma once you have the rest of the space complete.
