I LOVE your dining room! i have a similar dining table. look for long, thin trays for the center. you can put greens, or candles or seasonal decor on the tray. I also like table runners rather than full table cloths. then you can put placemats for the kids when they are there.

Not sure a mirror will provide the ambiance this room requires.

What a great room! I’m a NO on having placemats on the table 24/7. I would probably have a table runner (natural, like burlap or rough linen) made and place a large low dough bowl in the middle. easy to change out the contents seasonally.

Gorgeous table!! I’d add some flowers, or plants , faux or real to the table
Maybe add a cushion to each seat for some of the pizzaz your looking for. Maybe a light blue and white stripe canvas material.

A collection of salt and pepper shakers would be fun. Placemats can be tried out. If they spend most of their time in the washing machine, try a traditional oilcloth tablecloth instead. They can be made to custom sizes.

I think a round mirror will look wonderful — elegant and think of the great natural light reflection.

I’d keep the table decor simple: a couple of natural-looking floral arrangements on a long runner, with a big, interesting pottery bowl in the middle. For meals, placemats or tablecloth and a couple of rustic lazy Susans at each end for condiments and things. Copper or maybe some kind of local stone or wood.

For the gorgeous buffet, again, go local — look for an interesting sculpture or other interesting handmade things.
