Name That Plant!

Name that volunteer

Hi all long time no see.

This little plant pops up in my small meadow garden every summer. Every flower only has four bifurcated petals and a pink flush to it. Its very gangly, but it fits on ok amongst the other meadow plants in my suburban garden. Its about 4 feet tall by now. Any thoughts?

Maybe something like Epilobium brachycarpum? Still in Portland aren't we? Willowherbs get a bad wrap often, and so not deserving of it. There are 28 Epilobium species in Oregon. I looked at them all. Some are very showy.

Yep, still in PDX. I must have lost that info during one of the scheduled Houzz downgrades.

i think you‘re right Jay, one of the native Epilobium sounds right and brachycarpum seems reasonable. I tend to like Epilobium, except the weedy one that never goes away! I’ll leave this one tho! Thanks!
