I like my ruggable - I just throw it in the washer and dryer and it comes out looking fresh. I have a runner in front of my kitchen sink so I wash it often. If you look at the posts in the above link, one of the frequent problems people had was the edges curling up. I never had this problem though even after multiple washings. I've had mine for more than 2 years already.

Mine curled after first wash. Due to tripping hazzards, I threw mine away after only a few months of use.

We have three - two 3x5s by the entries and a 10’ runner in the kitchen. I really like them for practical spaces like that (my husband dropped a whole bottle of red wine on the runner once and everything washed right out) but would not want them in the living/dining/etc areas in a larger size as they are just not soft/plush enough for my taste, plus who would have the patience to deal with laundering and then reattaching to the base layer an 8x10 often enough for that to make sense!

And to add, we’ve had ours for 2 years, they are laundered frequently and get abused by a dog, toddler and Roomba. One has a bit of an issue with the edge banding fraying, but no curling. I dry on low about halfway and then hang them to finish drying.

I have a 3x5 Ruggable inside my backdoor, with a 10-month-old Collie/Pyrenees puppy who loves to chew on it and a 13-year-old Kuvasz who often "leaks" on it on his way out the door. During the year that I've had it, I've probably had to wash it at least two dozen times. I wash it in a front loader and then hang to dry. It looks great - colors are still vibrant and edges have not curled. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a bit of a hassle to perfectly align the top with the underlayment, but that fact that they're separate layers is also why it's so easy to wash.

Like the OP, my older dog has a hard time on my kitchen floor and I'm thinking of getting a 10' runner as well.

make some marks on the inside of the rug and on top of the base layer. permanent pens?
