I know it will be a pain in the neck, but reposition the bookcases. Put the taller beside the t v. Remove the all the vases.

Now hang the art over t v.

Think about getting a properly sized chandelier to replace what is hanging up there. It will help balance the height of the ceiling with the arrangement.

That wall is too busy already. Don't add anything else. Better to pare down some. 1/3 art, 1/3 books and 1/3 open space in the shelves. You don't have to display everything you own. Divide it up into warm and cool season decor and swap out twice a year. Books can stand, lean, stack and support other items. Keep decor items large enough to be identified from the seating. Don't line things up in soldierly rows but group in threes of like items. Consider a different color or some wallpaper on the backs of the shelves to break up the sea of brown. You can use luan or foam core to do that if you don't want to actually change the cabinets permanently. The piece of art you want to hang looks to have a beach or seaside theme, but nothing in the cabinets appears to pick up on that idea. Best to use it in the bedroom and keep decor items to a bit of that theme. Its true, you need lamps (floor and table) so you can turn off the harsh fan light once you're in the room. You could always light up the shelves too.

As the bookcases are, I can picture a picture in the center, with high ceiling that is. But the items imo should be removed from the tallest ones.

Why?

Because open bookcase are not a "built in", and the wall is too cluttered. The book cases need a wall to themselves, ( two tall butted together and flanked on either side with the shorter, neatened and fewer collectibles. ). The tv wall needs a larger tv .....and a much longer console.

That;s the solution, without seeing more of the space.

I think to switch bookcases is nice idea by judianna20. I brings more balance.

I would go for it. Then you can add some decor. I got some idea from RH, but may be too much. :-)) I am never minimalist.

It's a nice, large area. I like how you have bookcases in curve/ arc, and not up/down. But removing items might help houzzers see it all... wall hanging on L, and floor lamp. Do you like having your things there, and while tv watching?

Delete the smaller book cases and mount the tv.

Rearranging the book cases really is more visually pleasing, Celery!! I would remove the far right tiny book case and the far left white banner, for sure. I have to agree there is a lot going on and before your art will ever be seen you need to deal with the busy of that wall. Right now the wall cannot handle another thing for eyes to bounce from. I also think the new shape, circle Celery added is a better fit than your art. I think I would need something larger to balance over that TV anyway.

I detect that you may have a fairly nice collection of colored glass items. Why not put them all together in the dining room where they can easily be admired by diners and will add color to that area? Not sure they'll fit, but have you ever tried the two shorter shelves on either side of the triple window behind the large sofa?

Perhaps add multiple pieces of art for a collage wall, love how this draws attention away from the TV.
