This rug - yay or nay?

Would appreciate any thoughts on this rug. The dining chairs are temporary by the way, we are thinking of picking up the navy blue Odger chairs from Ikea to go with the dining table (link: https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/odger-chair-blue-00360002/)

I was going for a lighter color, thinking more about a white backdrop. Saw this rug on the Ikea website - the price was good and so were the reviews. The pictures on the website looked a lot whiter to me:

We ordered online and did click and collect. After picking it up we decided to go in the store to browse, since it was a weekday night and less crowded. We did already notice that it was quite a bit darker than the pictures on the website, but wanted to try it out anyway since we’ve already picked it up.

With the other chairs i think it will look more of what your going for.

Nay. I think it clashes way too much with the flooring. You definitely need to take your floor into consideration when you’re looking at inspiration pics

In fact, I’m thinking with those busy tiles “no rug”will probably be a better option. Nice table!

That’s disappointing to hear honestly. The tiles came with the house we purchased and it’s quite costly to break them up and replace them, and good contractors are hard to come by right now. That’s why we wanted to get a rug to cover most of it.

Nay. The floor is tan/brown tones but the rug has gray tones. Major clash.

I’d look for a SOLID COLOR that blends with the tan/brown floor. Tan or brown or ivory or green or navy or burgundy or just about any other color except grayish.

I don't think the rug is big enough (the pattern/color seem fine). You want a rug big enough that all the legs of the chair stay on the rug when you pull them out to sit down, otherwise the back legs of the chair run into the rug when you pull your chair in.

No. The color is cool but on top of a warm floor. And, it needs to be larger.

I agree - it needs to be larger, and the pattern/color don't play well with your floors.

I like your tile floor. Thinking maybe a solid color, perhaps with a band of color around it to blend

If you’re really set on a rug I agree a solid one (or nearly solid) in the right tone could work. But of course solid rugs aren’t always that practical in a dining room

Very busy tile, I think I’d like sisal or jute. Even a look alike to either would be fine. Both come in different shades, but jute comes in colors.

But if a mash like watercolor paint spray like this - and it blends with floor fairly well - try it.
