It‘s possible the heat from the bbq (or just a coincidence) has caused the seal on your thermopane window to fail. then you will see fogginess between the panes. look up failed thermopane windows on google to see if yours looks like that. if so, the only solution is replacement. if you post a pic of your window here you might get more help.

Havwe you tried rubbing alcohol? and a green Scotch scrubbie?

How about a picture as what you are describing could not possibly happen.

Thanks everyone. A picture is hard to take - I do not know if you can see the etching on the right side. I will try to take a picture when it is not so sunny. I will check the failed thermopane. I have not tried rubbing alcohol but will give this a try. I did try the scotch scrubbie.

Smoke cannot "etch" glass. Not really sure what you could have going on. Do you know the window brand? Can you take a picture of the spacer bar (metal piece that holds the pieces of glass apart)? Do you know if this is a laminated glass unit, can you take a picture of the logo in one of the corners of the glass?

I tried the rubbing alcohol and it does not work. I checked about pictures about the failed thermopane and my window is not foggy. It looks like it is etched. Tried to take another picture trying to show smoky etching. Thanks,

Never put a bbq too close to a window or siding.

I pull the barbecue away from the window and side of house when I barbecue. It is stored close to the house.
