That's a "ten year" estimate (not 'eventual') and in no way will they magically stop growing at that point.

According to the ACS (American Conifer Society), they are two distinct cultivars. But they do look very similar (and you can include 'Danica' into this mix as well). Perhaps the only significant distinguishing attribute between the three is rate of growth, which can impact mature sizing. All are considered true dwarfs with a growth rate of anywhere from 1-6 inches annually but it is my assumption that the smallest (Danica) grows the slowest (lower rate), Hetz Midget is intermediate in growth rate and Little Giant at the upper end of that range.

I think you could use them interchangeably in the landscape for a very similar effect, so I'd go with whatever is readily available to you.

Thanks. I like the foliage of Green Giant so I figured I would probably like the foliage of Little Giant. I'm not crazy about the foliage of Hetz, but overall the plant fits the bill for what I am looking for. From the pics I saw, Little Giant looks like maybe a little looser habit???

I saw that Lowe's may carry Little Giant for half the price that I just paid for Hetz Midget at a garden center. I could possibly have found Hetz at a box store too. Too lazy and not-motivated to hit the box stores, so I think I'll stick with the expensive garden center Hetz for the locally owned family garden center. :-) And if I did find less expensive box store option, not usually wise to buy end of season if its a leftover.

Additional info I found for reference from ACS: Hetz Midget has a growth rate of 1-6 inches per year and is classified as a Dwarf. Little Giant has a growth rate of less than 1" per year and is classified as a Miniature.

I'm definitely sticking with Hetz Midget. Little Giant should be called Micro Giant - LOL
