Perhaps our native styrax, Styrax obassia or fragrant snowbell?

Styrax obassia is from Japan. The native , S. americanus, has small leaves which do not match the above picture.

Sorry, that was a misstatement that it was native. But the foliage sure looks close to S, obassia

Not the same. Japanese snowbell is Styrax japonicus and the fragrant snowbell is Styrax obassia. And the leaf shape and flower form are quite different between the two.
