Is it imperative you leave the woodwork I have often painted woodwork in a bedrom and left the rest of the house as is. Can you post some pics of the space and your bedding, BTW I usually use the bedding for the color scheme for a bedroom. If you must keep the fir then i like this color with wood

I am a fan of the traditional white, or slightly creamy-warm-white walls with natural wood trims. Then bring color with accessories, art, linens.

Three colors that I have used in my house that I think work well with wood are Martha Stewart Gull (formula might still be available for mixing in other brands - I think mine was mixed in Clark & Kensington) which is more of a bone white; Valspar AnteMeridian, which is a pale green-blue, and Ben Moore Simply White.
