Looks like my Dad's condo. He believes the best thing is to have all your stuff out on a counter so you can see it all at once, all the time.

I'd be perfectly fine with the kitchen, so long as everything was on regular rotation. The rest of the house has a nice cohesiveness, too, with blues and browns. The only element I don't care for is what looks like bookcase wallpaper in the office enclave.

Hurts my head, and closed but went back to see the rest of the house after Feather's comment. My eyes rested on the round metal table with wheels. The only thing that matters is that she loves her home.

Hate it, what a cluttered mess. I could survive in that chaos for 1 drink.

I think the underlying design of the interiors is disciplined and a lot "cleaner" than what a lot of Americans end up with with their accent colors and tiles and "neutral with a 'feature' or 'bling'" and so forth. Look at the guest room: it's one color. The living room is two.

The kitchen looks like it does not have enough working counterspace and I think open shelving needs to be cleaned a lot. But I watch a lot of overseas design stuff, and there are a lot of kitchens that have everything out in the open.

I like it. There is a lot - and I mean a LOT- of stuff, but its curated, coordinated and thoughtfully [mis]placed.

Sometimes when we look at homes, my DH will point out something that increases operating or maintenance costs. To which I will reply - yes, you are correct. Let's look for something cinder block on an asphalt lot with only one window. : )

In other words, many things that add beauty have a cost ... explicit or implicit. No reason to reject them out of hand. The effort may be worth the impact.

I'm pretty certain the kitchen counters were staged for the photo. If not I'm also pretty sure she orders takeout every night. :)

One thing that caught my eye were all the cake/confection stands and cloches. I've been shopping for a small one but decided to get by without it because they take up a lot of storage space (can't be stacked), and are expensive, and seriously, how often do I display foods on a small stand with a glass cover. Answer, at this juncture--zero. I have three or four stands and covers already, which is why I decided to just give away one of my stands already with a cover rather than buy another one.

In her line of work, or her aspirational photos for selling stuff, people do a lot of elaborate baking and displaying of desserts. I once knew a German woman who was so inclined. Her husband was overweight with heart health issues where he should not have eaten that kind of stuff. Her house was full of goodies and she was always telling her husband to not eat them. My late mother also had a weight problem and us kids weren't allowed a lot of sweets either, and we always had trouble at her house. She was one of those people with a high metabolism and never seemed to be affected by it all. Another friend who was diabetic had to bring his own foods to her dinner parties . . . but my they were visually impressive!

If you look at some of the images in the link that @Oakley posted of her general store, there are some that are of her baking in her home’s kitchen with the open shelving behind her and it does appear that she rotates the kitchenware out…unless, of course, it was only staged that way for the photos to match the theme and immediately reverted back, which is very possible. Regardless, I’m guessing all of the stuff on the counter is for staging purposes only and isn’t there all the time…then again, that sort of goes against the whole ”maximalist” vibe being claimed, no?? I have no idea, but the lack of working counter space depicted in the photos bugs me! Staged or not, it’s not practical at all and impedes function.
