Where are you located? Is this For Real or Faux Tropical? I see a palm, but a few of them will grow outside of the tropics.

More palm trees for height, gingers, elephant ears, bananas... so many options. Budget seems reasonable if you aren't touching hardscaping. I would reach out to a couple local nurseries, at least in my area they will design and install...

Faux Tropical in Atlanta. Let me ponder that a bit. I see two long narrow beds on both sides of the pool. Is that also a large planter box by the stairs?

I don't know if it's just the pics, but it looks like the tile needs a good power washing to bring it back to its former glory.

Some taller plants in front of wall - maybe in big colorful pots - and an umbrella or 2 in tropical colors

How about adding tropical color/print umbrella for the table and cushions on the chairs? Maybe a couple of the cantalevered (spelling?) umbrellas for the chaise lounges when you've had too much sun but don't want to go inside. Maybe some twinkling lights for atmosphere.
