I freeze nut meats whenever I have too much to use in a short time. I've never had a problem, altho' I suppose they could get too 'old' or freezer burnt.

Thanks. Would it be helpful to move from freezer into refrigeratior those that remain at, say, six months?

If you want. I just leave mine in the freezer until I want to use them. Once the package has defrosted I then put them in the fridge.... not refreeze.

I googled the question and got a lot of different opinions. This one is most like my own experience:

"Freezing nuts is one of the best ways to keep them for as long as possible. In the freezer, you can keep nuts for up to two years after their best by date."

The trick is to get as much air out of the container as possible. I use a FoodSaver to get out most of the air. Doing this helps keep the food from getting "freezer burnt".
