If the window is a little drafty curtains would help. I wouldn't do a plain white though since your walls are white and the furnishings are gray, white and black. A mid-tone of almost any color would work, or just some sort of pattern with a white or gray background would perk up the space. Hang them as Lyn Nielson recommended. It looks like the window is not too large so a standard off the rack size should work (two 50" X 84" panels).

Does the sofa butt against the wall beside the window. If not, do both shades in the recess and curtains outside it. Here's the basic idea but on a bay. You might find a curtain or a shade that repeats the texture of the diamonds in the rug pattern. Change out colorful throw pillows and accessories seasonally to add color and interest to your room.

just a point of clarification the window looks out into the backyard ... thank you .. i a leaning towards the curtain rod extending it past the window and taking the shade down replacing with a nicer one to help with any drafts .. love everyones ideas :) and the sofa butts up against one of the support posts .. btw hate those things lol (yeah they hold up the house) they break up the rest of the room in a weird way .

We think adding curtains would be a nice added touch for comfort and ease of watching TV (no glare). We might suggest getting a heavier fabric for the curtains as well.
