There are many ways to configure a pergola. Maybe more of a "trim" piece above the garage that expands deeper to cover the patio. Here are a couple of illustrations and a link to lots more.

I was also thinking pergola. It would break up the flat expanse and provide shade.

Looks like a Pittsburgh house! Replacing windows for larger ones, replacing the small back door for a double, adding a pergola, wider trim and maybe more custom stonework on the driveway/patio.

You could create a planting bed along the outside edge of the concrete pad. Make it nice and wide (extending at least 5’ out from the concrete) and plant flowering shrubs that grow well in your area. I’m picturing shrubs in the 3’ - 5’ tall range. Coupled with a pergola or roof, that would give you a cozy private place to sit. And hide your trash cans, etc.

Depends on your budget and how you want to use the area.

Because of the air conditioner to the right of the garage you're unlikely to choose that part of your yard as your outdoor living space. It will be noisy. Put the trash cans etc between the air conditioner and the doorway, and build an enclosure to hide it all. Be sure the air flow to the air conditioner is not impaired. Google has plenty of examples. Paint the garage door, the single door and the enclosure the same dark dull colour to take attention away from this area.

The area in front of the sliders is your living area. A patio set with an umbrella is a functional budget-friendly option if you need shade. Depending on whether you need more shade or privacy, add plantings accordingly. Keep the attention to the right, e.g. don't plant a row of flowers along the driveway. Instead, put a colourful rug under the patio set. You get the idea.

These are all good ideas. To put another idea out there - are you interested in having a deck on the upper level? I don't know which room the bay window is in, but maybe you could change it to a slider and then have a deck. If it had stairs to the lower level you could have two outdoor living spaces. I don't know how much you think you will use the lower level. A deck on the upper level might get more use. I know mine does because it's off the kitchen and we have a grill out there.
