@Abby Mac - any suggestions as to what we should look at? I'm not good with this design stuff at all. I like the large planks and the flooring store I'm getting it from mainly has CoreTec. We can't go too rustic because it wont go with the style of our house.

@jck910 - this flooring will abut some beige carpet.

Is the picture with the couch the same flooring? That looks totally different. That is the one that I liked. But I'm not design either, so hopefully one of the pros will weigh in soon. I may be way off base. I'll look at some LVT options in the meantime.

Also if you search LVT in discussions you might get some good ideas.

Giant NO. Gray cabinets are already on the overdone list, and so are gray floors. Both together are a permanent rainy jail sentence.

I happen to like gray but I do not like it with beige so IMOif you want gray floor it needs to be everywhere . I think a nice wood tone would be a better choice if you insist on keeping carpet in the other spaces .

I personally would not use gray flooring with gray cabinets: too much gray. I have gray cabinets and traditional oak flooring color. I think the contrast in colors works well.

I agree. For me a wood tone is a nuetral and goes well with colors. Kculbers is a perfect example.

Look for a warmer toned floor which will look better with the beige carpet and looks much more natural than gray wood. You'll likely need to change or paint the cabinets to update before you change the floors again. You also may want to consider the color of any wood furniture you own.

Ok, all of you people with an eye for design - I'll take your advice & ditch the gray floors. But I need help choosing an oak/brownish tile. Our house is fairly modern, so I don't want anything too rustic. I don't want anything too dark, as we don't have a lot of natural light. I have no knowledge of design, so @calidesign, what are considered "warmer" tones? I'm looking at CoreTec and I'd prefer a larger plank. We're doing the kitchen, entry hall and living room & we have a lot of open space that I feel the larger planks will look better in. Thank you @kculbers and @Erica Langley for the photos! If anybody else has any to share I'd love to see them! @Abby Mac - I do like the sample you linked to - hoping to find something similar in CoreTec's LVT.

Calypso is super popular, Hayes Oak. Check out Fairweather Oak as well. You just need to bring samples home and put next to elements that will not change.
Speaking of that, are the gold granite countertops staying? Not sure that is doing any favors to the gray cabinets

CoreTec has a visualizer tool, but you do need to see the samples in your own light. They can look very different from the colors online. I'd choose a color that works with your beige carpet, beige and bluegray walls, and the countertop. I would really consider repainting your cabinets a warm white so they look like they belong in the rest of your home. That should also make it easier to choose a floor.

@User - the countertops aren't really gold. They have many colors, including lots of gray! I do realize I need to bring samples home, but I need some help even to know what samples to bring home.

I love my Coretec floors! Good luck! Mine are gateway hickory but I think they don’t make it anymore. My mom has fairweather oak and they look great

Take photos of your interiors to the flooring store with you, and they may be able to help you will sample suggestions.

Sorry for the shadows, I can't seem to avoid them. Kent is on the right - it looks more gray - but it's listed as light brown. Bedford on the left. What do you think?

The Bedford looks better to me.

I like Bedford as well. Before we redid our flooring, we purchased a box of a few we liked (that could be returned) and when we saw them laid down in larger area, it was an easy decision. If you are still uncertain, suggest going that route with the Bedford, if possible, and test in all the rooms where being laid.

@Abby Mac - we actually decided to go with Kent! It's not as gray as Cambridge Elm but it's not as brown as Bedford. We think it will be the perfect in-between to go with everything. FYI - Here's a pic of Kent next to Cambridge Elm.

5 out of 5 responses said they preferred Bedford. It's your home, so you need to make the decision, but you can remember this in a couple of years if you need to sell or want to update. Gray is already outdated.

@calidesign - Wow, a little harsh, don't you think? Sounds like you're offended because I didn't take your advice. We're not selling - this is our forever home. The color of Kent is not as gray as you think. CoreTec even describes it as brown. It is a perfect blend of light brown/gray/white to go with everything in our home. Thank you for your opinion though.

Put the Kent against your caroet snd see how it looks. on my screen the Kent still looks too gray

Kent is definitely less gray than the Cambridge and that is good. We're going by that one pic as far as liking Bedford more, Bedford seemed to have more "life" if that makes any sense. But you are the one that sees it in person. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your new floors!

Who cares what color is ”in” or ”out”? It’s not like you are putting in an avocado green floor. Gray is pretty timeless, an you can make it work with all kinds of other colors. And you are really talking more greige than gray. Do what you like and don’t worry about the latest trend. I can’t believe how insulting people are about it.

@krisclark3 - thank you - we did go with Kent Oak & we love it! It goes great with everything. Not too gray, but just enough.

@Lisa Berger would you mind posting pictures of your installed Kent Oak? My husband and I are trying to decide between that or Grande Empire Oak!!

Love the Kent! I am also debating between Kent and Bedford. Kent looked like it didn't have warmth when I looked online, but I love the floor in your home! I was also concerned that it had too much variation, but it looks nice.
