Except for the rug and one accent chair, it is very beige which can equate to bland and boring for some people. What are your favorite colors, what furniture will stay and go? First thing I notice is that the art is hung too high. When picture frames are higher than the door frame you know they're too high. I'd hang the TV on that wall and use a credenza below it that won't take up such a large footprint. Nothing else there. The two pictures above it could be stacked vertically to the right of that door or left of the other one. I'd remove the art from the panel wall and fill the panels with a grass cloth treatment to add texture and warmth. The FP could use a mantel and most these days are using heat proof matte black paint to paint out the brass trim on them. I don't see the crown molding at that end of the space. You might want to complete that over to the FP for a finished look. I can't ID what is going on at the top of your drapes, but I'd raise the rod to just below the crown and hang simple panels that just kiss the floor plus fabric or fiber roman shades inside mounted underneath them to warm things up. You could take the same roman shades to the doors to the sunroom and to the dining bay next door, without the valance but retaining the panels at each side.

I'd love to paint the walls a non neutral color. I was thinking of purchasing an entertainment center but like the idea of mounting the TV as well. Love idea for shades. It needs more color I know!!

Definitely needs some pop of color. Select 2-3 colors and see what you combination you want to go for, beige and green or beige and red or burnt orange would be an option.
Some basic things you can change immediately are
Pillow...add some refreshing color pillow you can go with red, burnt orange, green, blue
Your frames are a bit high and maybe you need some good artwork, go for some colors in the art work.
Add an indoor plant at the corner near the family room and dining room.
Use some accents like a small tray with book, flowers, candles for that coffee table

Adding a small side table with a nice lamp can also make the room more cozy and I recommend you change the rug and accent chair.

Chanel-- i like the idea of beige and burnt orange. I was thinking of paint the walls a color that would match this combination. I know the rug needs to go. what color would you suggest? Perhaps something that pulls from the accent pillow? Thanks!!

personally i would not paint the walls...color can be added in many other ways..accents like rugs, pillow, decor items

I'd pull the rug 2' in under the sofa. Right now it's in the middle of the walkway area.
The pictures are too high.
You have great board and batten and windows to work with you just need some lightening. I'd pull the golds and cream colors out of the rug. A light colored mirrored, glass or stone end table to the left of the sofa (the arm facing us). To the right of the TV, on the side, a light colored basket filled with magazines or throws. A big metal tray on the coffee table with a white orchid or a low African violet and a candle or small poetry books. Some throw pillows and some bright lamps - no more wood.
