Living room help needed

We are terrible at putting things up on walls! Need suggestions of what to do especially above the TV and fireplace (that large canvas is temporary).

I would put some art over fireplace and wall directly across from it first. The drapes on your windows. Not a fan of art over tv and you may not need it with the drapes giving your windows some attention.

We suggest to put the tv on the wall at a height comfortable for the eyes and neck. Where the tv is right now is not the most convenient for ease of watching. Then you can work on what to put underneath the tv. Or you can put the tv above the fireplace. Then you can put artwork on the wall where the tv is currently.

Such a lovely room and so much potential for finishing touches. Lots of small things are drawing the eyes down and with such a lovely ceiling, it’s important to draw attention upwards - large art on wall opposite fireplace will do that.

If interested, a more substantial/higher and interesting console would make a big difference.

Layer mantle and hopefully you have another wall for your lovely art and don‘t forget some great cushions, which will pull the room together. Your room will be warmer, more personal and georgous!

The TV should be on a slightly taller console, both for looks and ease of viewing.

I agree with the others. TV is too low, the artwork above the fireplace should go above the console table on the opposite side of the room, and a smaller vertical piece there instead and curtains are a must. These changes will help visually balance the room.

Nothing should go over the TV unless it is something which hides the TV when you are not watching it. I like art at eye level to a standing average-height adult. Framed art looks better than unframed art. Your room will look much more finished if you have window treatments on all of the windows (one-way draw panels which draw toward the corners of the room, or two narrower panels on each which frame the windows when opened. The room could also use an area rug which reaches under the front legs of the sectional and out to both sides of the sectional.

Why not try mounting the TV on the wall over a long, low console. Then get another piece of artwork that compliments your current piece, or a mirror, for the wall opposite the fireplace. Take note of the mirror and artwork in our designs here:

Thank you everyone for the wonderful feedback! I love the idea of a taller and more substantial TV console. For the fireplace, what are your thoughts on either a substantial sculpture as a focal point layered with candlesticks and other small items, or perhaps faux taxidermy? And looking at these photos the room is definitely crying out for drapes, any suggestions on colors or patterns would be very appreciated 😊
