I'd use a tone on tone in a more contemporary pattern as one option. Or you can play up the white and platinum by using a very light colored rug with some sheen.

Under a dining table I don't usually recommend a rug because you would have to cover a very large area. When someone sits at the table the rug would have to be big enough so that when they pull back the chair it doesn't get stuck on the rug or fall off. It becomes difficult for your guests to maneuver around a rug situation.

I like rug on top pic on far right will go with fabric in yr chairs.

I agree with new centerpiece. Always group in odd numbers remove cloth and add a bowl in a red fill with green pears faux, put candles together on one side. Remove pot in corner to low. Add big palm in pot for more texture. Love silver framed monogram.

You could lower light 15-18. Should be 36" from top of table.

All the above are custom made rugs with top quality wool and all natural dyes. There is a few that are ready to go, or they can be made to the specific clients needs like size, colors,etc.

I think you're going to have to achieve your goal of complimenting the damask via draperies. Your rug will have to be four feet wider and longer than the table top and then will gobble up your room, cover your floor and run into the china cabinet.

I think you should choose a rug that compliments your chairs upholstery and wall color. It will visually seperate your dark hardwood floors from your table.The rug can also be a geat way to introduce a contrast color for accessories. just a personal note--we have a nice oriental rug in our dining room and it's the largest one we could get for the space, but we didn't think about the fringe!! I see the ones above have no fringe on them :) What happens is that when you move the chair back to sit the chair legs will be on the fringe if the rug is not large enough. welcome to my dining room :)

Take careful measurements. I still don't think there is room for an adequate rug.
