Floor damaged need advice

last modified: 5 years ago

Last week we had countertops installed in our kitchen. During the install, the workers scooted our fridge across our floor. They messed up roughly 6 sq ft of our floor. Our floor was installed in 2019 when we bought the house. It has been discontinued. Luckily, I can still get ahold of a small amount of it. I have tried to work on getting a quote for repairing my floor, I was referred to a place by the floor manufacturer. The man there told me and I quote "I'm not interested in doing this project for you because it is not going to look right when its done and I dont think youre going to be happy with it. The countertop people really screwed you." I was told because the floor is engineered hardwood and has a tongue and groove system, replacing just a board will cause it to be raised from others. Plus buying floor 2 years later, it wont exactly match. It will be fixed, but ultimately may cause some devalue to the house. My question is do I try ro get it fixed and have the counter people deduct it from our bill? Or should I just file a claim with their insurance company? This has been a real headache and I think my floor should be returned to its prior status not a patch job.
