Agree with @tozmo1 but I didn’t vote on any of the choices. They are way too bland for me. I do like the 2 suggested examples tozmo1 offers - they are both restful, so bedroom appropriate, yet they offer subject matter interest as well as colors & tones that complement bedding.

I voted for #5, but I think you can do better.

Tozmo1: okay i see what you mean. a more pronounced color? i guess i was trying to do light since furniture was dark. i will keep looking with that in mind ! i tend to like the abstract horizon paintings or floral so will look for more pronounced color. thanks !

I didn’t vote either. I agree you need more color, and suggest you look for a painting, print or poster that you REALLY LOVE, not just a piece purchased off the internet to fill the space, which is how these look to me.
I do like the example of trees offered by tozmo1.
Do you have any local artists, museums or galleries? I’ve found some beautiful, very reasonably priced pieces that way- flea markets and yard sales, too. It can take time to find something you love, but it’s worth waiting for that just -exactly-perfect piece.

I do like the photos i posted and i tend to always pick out neutral colored art. i try to get ideas online of rooms i like and then get similar art to those. i feel like they never seem to work in my spaces though and i don't get why haha. Then i just feel stuck. Is it because of the color of my rug and lighting ?

I love the neutral colors in your room, and am not fond of much bright color, tbh.
Thinking of art I have in my own home- I love vintage. I’m not young, and have decades of collecting behind me :) and am fortunate to have a few friends who are artists, and parents who collected art- nothing expensive, to be clear. My most recent piece is a vintage black and white framed photograph of a beach in Hawaii, $35 at a flea market last month. I love it!!
I am drawn to pieces that remind me of places I love, paintings or prints or photographs of, say, Paris, Kauai, local trees and views that are evocative of landscapes around here (in my case, Northern California). Sometimes I use a vintage frame (eBay or Etsy) with a newer piece.
Are there particular artists you love? A rectangular print of Monet’s water lilies might look great over your bed- perfect colors for a bedroom.
It would be nice to bring in some soft greens and blues- not pastels or super bright colors necessarily, but some deeper restful colors.

The rug and the lighting are fine. You need stronger or maybe it's deeper tones in the art to compliment the dark bed. Otherwise, the bed is just a dark blob on a pale palette. You don't need bright colors, but you need some colors with some depth to them or even some deep browns with no other color to compliment the bed. Here's some tying in the coral accents which are great and one that is sepia.

If you decide to go with the blue flower pictures, when you get a new rug, look for something with some blue in it. You might get some blue throw pillows instead of the red, and add a throw blanket or quilt at the foot of the bed in a soft blue. Some blue-green colors could be nice, too.

lilceeja, I think have the same bed as you in my guest room. Like you, I'm not crazy about the bed (or the rest of the furniture for that matter) and plan to change it all out next year. I'm using soft blue-green colors in this room right now so these pics might give you an idea on how these colors look. They are very subtle. For your room, my favorite is the deeper blue color in the pic you posted if you want more of a pop. I agree with chinacatpeekin that you'd want to try and find a rug to coordinate with that. I think my own room would probably benefit from an added rug. One of my dilemmas is that I can't center the bed under the little arched windows and there isn't a lot of space to put anything between the headboard and the windows. I am planning to post my own design dilemma about this issue so hopefully some of you will pop over to my discussion once I post.

Those are much better. My favorite is the bottom one. It ties in your existing corals and has some deep browns. If you go blue, you have to change out the coral or mix in some blue there and also change the rug. The blue is very cool and the rug is very warm. They don't work together. You're on the right track!

I don’t vote, sorry. I didn’t see much difference between them all and they are more or less similar. You need something more scenic or with stronger colours. Just to add: some people add throws over the top of the headboard of the bed just for a change of colour, you can also have a gadget holder etc over the headboard in the Centre to have some things close by, seen other just add bright cushions on the bed.

I think you’re on the right track with blues- much better than the rust/ red.

I agree, something with more color. Of what you posted, I liked 3 and 5 but I think it's because there was a little more color in them.

@lilceeja very much like the blues you’re considering - so much warmer & more interst & personality than the initital pictures you posted for vote. Maybe with this additon of c9lor you’re liking your darker bedroom funiture now?

I think the blue choices look nice although I'd like to compare to the same scene with a little darker pillows. Now I'm getting picky. :-)

Some more ideas. I was thinking about scale and how hard it will be to find the right blue solid pillow. You have a mini print (throw) an medium print (pictures) but you don't have a large print. I think it would be fun to have a large centered print on the pillows and work in some other colors so you don't have to match the blue solid. I don't think the blues in these examples work quite right but I wanted to give you an idea of how scale on the pillows will balance out the look. Although I do favor the bottom one.

Lol how did you know i have cats!? i have the real ones though so dont need any more haha. i guess i was trying to keep it a little more neutral with the solid and figured if i do an oriental rug may be ok? i like the first pic though. i like a little boho style.

Ha, ha. Everyone should have cats! I thought that first one would appeal to your boho interests. I never met an embellished fabric I didn't love. Solid blue is fine if you can find the right blue. The wrong one will throw things off. I like the idea of a large image/embroidery/shape (like the Greek key one) on the pillow for interest, but go with what works for you. You've come a long way in making this room look great.
