Question on using EasyRGB

Hello, I’m in the process of choosing a painter for interior rooms. One painter prefers another brand over Benjamin Moore. I will consider his preferred brand, just to give it a fair shot, but I carefully chose the BM and an adjoining room is already painted that color. I looked up the Easy RGB site (THANK YOU, Lori S.) and I’m wondering if the delta number is the most important to show variance between my chosen BM color and the other brand. So far, nothing is close to BM Balboa Mist and interestingly, the two codes for BM Balboa Mist (1549 or OC-27 differ by a delta E of 0.2)! If anyone can tell me if I’m using this tool correctly I would be so grateful. Thank you!

Yes. It is. What it looks like - how different they look in situ - matters as well.

interestingly, the two codes for BM Balboa Mist (1549 or OC-27 differ by a delta E of 0.2)!

Because EasyRGB measure two different swatches in two different fandecks. What this demonstrates is how consistent fandecks actually are. 0.2 means there's essentially no discernible difference between the two samples.

Does the "his preferred brand" paint store have a computer system that has the formulas for other brands' paint colors? If so, why not have it mix up a sample of the Benjamin Moore color that you like? (I use Behr paints and Home Depot had a Sherwin-Williams paint color in its database.)
