Wall overlaps window

As part of my master bathroom remodeling project, the contractors built these shelves:

And only after the tile was installed, it become noticeable that the wall overlaps the window. By approximately 1/2":

I am curious if I should insist that contractors fix this issue (obviously they don't want to do anything about it) before I accept the job? Eventually I will be replacing that window and could order a slightly smaller window -- this will eliminate the gap. But right now, is it only a cosmetic defect or it is more than just cosmetic?

I suspect you won't be able to replace that window without ripping out the tile.

As far as cosmetics, I think it looks pretty good on the 3 sides of the window you show. Hopefully the other side matches. (Do you have plans for window treatments that will work?)

I can't think of a non-cosmetic reason to redo it but I'm sure someone will chime in if it'll make your house fall down or something. I do think that if it bothers you, you would be perfectly reasonable to insist it be redone.

That can be addressed when you replace the window and if done by a professional, the tile should be left undisturbed.
