I would go with portico but over door plus small window for symmetry.

Is your front door white? What if you paint it a more vibrant color? Yellow, chartreuse, salmon?

I would add a portico or other style cover for the front door

A portico will protect people who come to the door during bad weather, plus it adds a little dimension to the front. A bit of color in the planted area would also be nice.

Thanks so much for the feedback. We have decided to go with the portico, centered over the window in the middle of the second story so it encompasses the door and the little window. We're still back and forth on siding colors but we've narrowed it down to dark green or dark blue. Sadly, I can't get my hands on any paint samples because of the paint shortage so it's going to be tricky.

Oh, and we're going to landscape the heck out of the front area. I'm really looking forward to this project. ὠA
