Wanting nice quality machine washable curtains

I had curtains in my last home that would be perfect in my current home, but Country Curtain went out of business.

The curtains I had were simple, white, tab top, cotton, unlined curtains. They were a nice weight and well made.

I am looking for something similar in quality and style, but could be tab top, back tab, ripple fold. . . something modern.

If you know where I can find good quality I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Picture of the curtains I owned that were from Country Curtain.

Most people don't need machine washable drapes. The most they would get is some dust which you can vaccum once in awhile. Look for drapes with rings instead so you can use a wand to move them, which gives you the ability to open and close them for light without touching the fabric. Try JC Penny.

I won't buy anything that isn't machine washable. I know many people do, but it just isn't me.

Have you checked IKEA? They don’t say on the website whether they are machine washable or not. Probably could call and get more information. Some here on Houzz report being pleased with these.

The Ikea Ritva curtain is cotton, but but will shrink so wash before you hem. I have washed and bleached these curtains. They are cream colored out of the package and are available in a few lengths.

Thank you for the feedback and ideas. I will check out Vermont Country Store to see what they have. Looked online at the Ikea curtains and had some concerns.

@ratherbesewing - since you own the Ikea Retva and I am guessing that you are a sewing queen, so maybe you can tell me about the weight of the fabric and the quality of the cut. I looked at the Retva and saw that they were winter white/cream not white - good to know that they can be bleached. Problem 1 solved. The other thing that concerned me was that they look pretty thin and some complained that they were pretty thin and were off grain, shrank unevenly after washing and were no longer square. I want something for bedroom privacy, so I don't want them to be too thin / sheer. Something in the 10-12 oz range (jersey/sheeting at 6 oz and non-stretch denim being 16 oz).

Would love to hear your thoughts/experience.

I think having them made in a fabric you like is probably the easy solution. I have taffetta drapes in my LR and DR they are grommet but hidden with a valance same fabric both the valances and the drapes are washable and honestly I would never live with drapes that needed drycleaning . I have huge dogs they like to lay against the drapes sometimes, a vacuum will not remove that dirt. You might want to try Amazon they have tons of white washable drapes and the bonus is if they are not right the return is simple

If you have any sewing skills you could sew some simple curtains. I made simple curtains with gold damask fabric. I also purchased some off white curtains at Target years ago.

I had some made at IKEA for the kitchen, easy to wash and put back up. Others formal rooms have heavy curtains so rather than deal with the hassle of removing them, I bring someone in to steam clean along with the curtains at least once a year depending.

Look on Etsy too, and read reviews of 5 star sellers.

I had planned on making my own, but with all my reno projects I thought this was one I might be able to just buy. I am fussy about the quality and am finding it more and more difficult to find high quality even when willing to pay a premium. I may do like Patricia said and buy some material that pleases me and hire someone else make them for me.

I also have a dog and used to have both cats and dogs and feel the need to wash things.

I lined and pleated the Ritva curtains. Sorry Sorry, not the clearest picture.

I just bought some shorter kitchen curtains with this tab top from Wayfair so I did a search there using "tab top curtains" and came up with a selection with these tops that I like a lot. Here is the link to one of them: https://www.wayfair.com/decor-pillows/pdp/august-grove-okeelanta-washed-casual-solid-semi-sheer-tab-top-single-curtain-panel-w002012881.html?piid=986726313%252C986726318&experiencetype=2&selectedvertical=7

And here are all the results: https://www.wayfair.com/keyword.php?keyword=tab+top+curtains&class_id=&experiencetype=2&selectedvertical=7

Take a look at the Half Price Drapes website. Huge variety and many are washable.
