thanks for the info. But my concern is not sure if the notch on stairs beam? It is a horizontal one not vertical one. I thought only vertical ones are stud? Is that correct?

If you are talking about the rim joist for the landing, that shouldn't be of structural concern either. Again, sloppy, but the landing won't fail.
