Beautiful home!

With your lovely style, get whatever rugs you like — they don’t need to match. My favorite traditionally styled homes have rugs that look like (or actually were) heirloom rugs that have been collected over time. And each stands on its own merit, like art on the floor.

All that said, are you wanting traditional rug styles? Or looking for something more eclectic … sort of mix and match?

Thanks so much for your input! I am really open to anything. The house has a mostly traditional style, with a little whimsy. Not overly formal. And probably nothing too light colored because we have little children and a dog.

Meant to add: if you go to a rug site like Rugs Direct (and many others), they have a mock-up feature to see how a rug would look in your room. It’s not exact, but helps give an idea. You’ll need to get a closer up photo of the area in question.

I love the idea of whimsical with traditional! And I love looking for rugs (used to sell them), will be back later with some suggestions. :)

Just to get an idea of your preferences, do any of these appeal? I was kind of going for lively, unique, eclectic, whimsical … with a touch of traditional.

I would get the dining room rug first, then see what direction you want to go in the foyer.

Do you prefer something more muted and quiet than these? Are they too bossy?

If you’d prefer not to have three patterned rugs in a row, a jute would be great in the entry. Texture and a break between the more formal rugs on either side. My jute runner is over 15 yrs old and has been in the entry of two houses now — with several cats and dogs through the years. Still looks near-new, I love it.
