I went to a quilt show today!

Wow, it was nice to go to a show! It was the Lake County Guild show in Leesburg. It was a fairly small show, but beautiful quilts! There were about 15 vendors; I made the rounds twice but nothing really tempted me.

I took a picture of this one. I’d like to make it some day.

Has anybody else been to a show recently?

Plano quilt guild, a suburb of Dallas, had a show last month. It was a great show (my favorite local show that takes about three hours). My cousin, my sister and I went the first morning. The quilts were gorgeous. Most were done locally. I'm always impressed by the quilting in a show. The piecing is nice, but the free motion quilting is so outstanding. All the quilts were above my skill level. There weren't many classes this time.

They had a mini quilt sale that was a fund raiser. They were amazing. That show is the first time I saw Sunbonnet Sue in chains. Unlike some people I could mention, I love Sunbonnet Sue, although I don't have one.

I was somewhat disappointed in the vendors, as none were local. They all seemed to have little "niche" items.

The Dallas quilt guild didn't have a show again this year. It is usually in the spring.

The closest thing to a show, that I experienced, was that GrammyP and I went to see ToolGranny in California. She has so many beautiful quilts in her house, mostly made by her! It was a great trip.

Oh - that is pretty! So glad you were able to go!

There haven't been any shows near me this year - unless you consider our county fair. I did enjoy seeing all of the quilts that were entered int competition but don't always agree with the ribbons given out! No booths for vendors there.

That's a sweet quilt, Donna. And what a good one to work on in between other projects. You can make a star or two whenever you get bored with what you're working on. Which star pattern is that?

Lois, I had to go search for the pattern, since I didn’t take a close up of the label. :) It’s Aurora by Edyta Sitar.

Edyta Sitar produces some fantastic quilt patterns. Not surprising this is one of hers.
