Casement window bug problems

last modified: 4 years ago

Hi all. I have casement windows all through the house. The most recent ones were put in in l996 and are Andersen's. I keep one of them ajar in the summer, so I can listen to nature. But......that means that tons of bugs get in-between the open window and the screen. AND......even if I haven't opened one of the casement windows forever, bugs (especially Asian ladybugs) crawl in that space under the window and hibernate there. If I happen to open that window for some reason, they come into the house. Without using chemicals, is there a way to keep them from getting under the tightest fitting window? Plus, it really ages and ruins some of the inner trim. Maybe this is just all part of having casement windows. We live out in the country. But I sure would like to keep those bugs from climbing under the casement windows and living there. Any suggestions? Hopefully all these windows weren't just installed wrong. Thanks!
