Help with floor transition for same flooring?

We bought LVP flooring to put down in our living room and kitchen and the first plan was to rip up the tile and everything under it and also take up the Pergo in our living room to get both floors on the same level. This is obviously the best option but requires the most amount of work and in the kitchen I believe there may be peel and stick flooring (which i was told could have asbestos) under our tiles so I am wanting to avoid it if at all possible.

So I'm thinking the only other option would be to lay everything down on top of current flooring but then we would need a transition although it would be the same flooring. Would this look awful? I have attached a picture of the height difference. This would be the same height differences but will the same flooring in both rooms.

In order to lay the LVP over the tile all the grout lines need to be filled or they will telegraph thru in very short order.

If you plan to stay in this house long term, then do it the right way and rip everything out.

ugh yeah i am leaning towards ripping it all out, just kind of trying to explore all option first. the thing is we really aren't planning on staying here long term. not that we don't want to do things well but am just trying to see if the transition piece would save so much time and potentially money too if it'd be worth it.

Most peel and stick tiles didn't have asbestos. Even if they do, they're often poorly adhered and come up in full pieces. If the tiles are brittle they're more likely to be the type with asbestos.

As a floor professional I'd never put anything over a Pergo floor, not even carpet (which I don't do anyway). It's easy to remove.

Take it all up.

The different level with transition piece will be a red flag when you go to sell. Go ahead and invest in improving your house and the small amount of extfa work will pay off in your enjoyment now and market value later
