How to make this kitchen not cold without switching the white light ?

Is there a dimmer switch for the track lights?

No, I don't think so. I quite like the green cabinets -- I think the kitchen is very nice! What's missing is something in that little nook where you've got that small shallow sideboard thing. Some artwork that contains the cabinet color would look good there and visually warm up the space. Maybe a better piece of furniture, too, but I'm not sure what; that little cabinet/sideboard looks "off" there.

ETA: Also try to find some rugs that tie in better with the cabinet color; those rugs aren't offensive in any way but really aren't doing anything at all for the space -- you could do much better.

    I don't think it's too cold.

The one think I don't like in the photos is the color put out by the lantern fixture outside the peninsula. The color is very different from the kitchen lighting and looks kind of sickly in comparison. It isn't doing your wall color any favors.

When you say without switching the white light are you saying you don't want a new fixture or you don't want new bulbs? The counters, backsplash, and cabinets all have inherently cool undertones to them. Shining some warmer light on them may help tones down the cool somewhat. Are the lights LED? What temperature are the bulbs? Try a 2700K in a few of them and see if that warms it up.

I like a cooler palette. The different temp light in the dining room is jarring to me. If you like the natural texture rugs, I would tend to add more natural textures. Some green plants. A really rich mango or walnut wood fruit bowl. Maybe a bread bin or something to stash your stuff on the counter with a fun color or a patina'd metal surface. Love the cabinet color.

IMO 3500 K is a s warm as I would go anything warmer will cast a yellow glow. To be honest I do not see aneed for warming up at all I do however have an issue with crockpot sitting on a counter outside the kitchen I do not see a ding table and IMO that light is all wrong for the space . I would look into a ligt that macthes what you have an make it a ceiling light not a chandelier at all since there is no space for a table . Why not just do a nice pantry cabinet in thta space for much needed storage maybe even with some glass doors in it to display glassware to make that look more fitting no crock pot on anything outseide the kitchen I would also look for something less county for the stools and in a color and in that spot swivel too

I think you may need to get used to the color of the light, or adjust your choice of bulbs a tad warmer. However, the two tweaks I would make are (1) the rugs, which could add color and pattern, and (2) hanging some art over the sideboard for some more color and to distract Patricia's eyes from the small appliances stored there. In both cases, you can just echo the cabinet color or add a bunch more.

Sorry, I don't trust my judgment on where your cabinet color falls on the blue-to-green spectrum, based on just these photos on my monitor. but you get the idea(s) anyway...

IMO, the Kelvin color temp of the lights is too high/white in all the fixtures. I suggest 3000K LED bulbs in all the indoor bulbs.

Yes, swap out the beige rugs for something more colorful. And a big colorful picture on the wall between the peninsula and the rice cooker. Maybe a big plant on the floor by the rice cooker or some flowers on the countertop.

LOVE your zellige backsplash! I'm doing sort of the opposite, I painted my cabinets off white and doing a sage/jade green zelliege.

I like the cabinet paint and cambria tops. The only thing that I find off is the track lighting. Where did you get them? Just curious. Maybe consider doing razor thin LED "can" lights instead. 3500Kelvin is a nice medium between too warm/yellow and too cool/blue. Agree with Patricia....a less country ish barstool. I like the idea of more colorful rugs too.

@The Kitchen Place the track lighting was leftovers from previous owners, we weren't sure what else to replace it with especially with the columns running, so left ti as is.

Thanks a ton for your advice

I prefer 3,000K LED bulbs or 3,500K LED bulbs. I don't like too yellow or too blue in my lighting.

I think the kitchen looks nice and maybe you need to find dimming LED bulbs and a dimmer switch and if the bulbs are daylight bulbs switch them to warmer once without too much yellow. I like the idea of warmer rugs.

Pretty! only thing that throws me off are the stools… I’d go darker wood, or a different material.

Under cabinet lights will warm it up.

Arch over the window doesn't seem ideal with nothing there - how about softening with fabric? I use a spring rod between cabinets.

basically, everyone is saying to put lipstick on it. And I will forever say 2700-3000k everything else is a hospital

2700 in a kitchen? no way. sorry. I want to see what I'm cooking. dining is one thing, preparing is another.

4000K in a kitchen is perfectly fine, and normal. it should be like neutral dayight. 3500 is a bit warmer.

I don't think it's overly cold, but I do think your lighting is bit blue hued.

something needs to happen w/this wall above the grate (some art?)

and the other longer wall. are you up for some open shelving?

can you do a slightly larger buffet cabinet?

What above a coffee bar or beverage center ?

Merely bringing in a few potted plants and some upper shelving will do wonders.

You could top that current wood piece w/a remnant piece of black soapstone, or if you have leftover quartz or marble.

but I'd go for something a little larger

don't know if you're up for changing out those track lights

consider some pendants over the peninsula

or try some diff flush mount ceiling lights

you could also do some wood on the ceiling

or, wrap those beams in a thin wood veneer

Very pretty kitchen @uday reddy and not too cold. What if you add a lamp on the peninsula and when you want a warmer feel turn off the overheads and turn on the lamp? You could also add a lamp to the sideboard.

For me - I would paint - The wall color makes me feel like it's not finished. Other than the cabinets, everything is just blending in. Try painting some color on a poster board and tape it to the wall and see.

Are the track lights adjustable? I think their brightness, in addition to being all lined up like an airport runway, makes them the only thing my eye is drawn to - instead of the very pretty elements in the rest of the kitchen. If there is some way to swivel them so you still get the light, but they aren't little soldiers, I think that would help. Or do as
Beth suggested and switch them out for more friendly lighting (I know you said you didn't want to do that, but sometimes there is a simple, not too expensive solution).

First off, I am in LOVE with your cabinet color! That is the perfect shade of green/blue that I would like to paint mine. Would you mind sharing the color? Thanks!

I had the same initial thought as olychick on whether the lights attached to the track were adjustable and could somehow tuck up and hide behind the beams.

I am mad at those 10 bright little squares that keep on distracting me from admiring all the beautiful details in your kitchen haha! I am sure it probably isn’t as distracting in real life as in the photo.

Although it would not be cheap, I would try and save up enough $ so that down the road could remove the tract lights and install recessed can lights. I use frosted bulbs so not so harsh in mine.

But until then, I would replace all the bulbs to around the 3,500-4,000 zone in the lighting range photo that Beth posted. I agree though that 4,000 in a kitchen is probably best for cooking tasks.

I made the mistake once of buying bulbs labeled ”daylight”. It made my house reflect a weird neon pinkish purple. I felt like I should add a big spinning mirror disco ball to complete the vibe!

We bought these flat panel LED lights to replace floresent tube lights after we pulled out the suspended ceiling. They are dimmable, have a color temp adjustment and put out great light. The front panel is matte finish and blends right into the ceiling. I think they would virtually disappear hidden behind your beams. Then choose pretty pendants over the peninsula and sink (we're currently working on that and disregard the holes on the ceiling to the left of the panels).

@rebunky the color is farrow and ball green smoke, semi gloss. We used that color a lot and are in love with it

blue hue=4k and we moved to 35k with halogen which was white enough. seeing what your cooking you can do that by candle lite if you want be as long as you have a green room, the 4k is only going to add more blue back in.

I agree with HU-867564120 that I would try 3K temperature of bulbs and enough lumens that are dimable also. I always prefer temperature range of lights from 3,000 to 3,500 since white enough without being cold. I don't like 2,700 too yellow light and I don't like blue light above 4,000.

I love the cabinet color and the counters. I agree that runners picking up the cabinet color would warm up the kitchen. I would also save to do recessed lighting instead of the distracting track lighting.
