You may have seeded a hybrid of the various seeded varieties. Seeded bermuda varieties get seed heads. If you want the "seedless" hybrid, then those don't come from a bag. They are only sold as sod and sometimes stolons.

Hello @dchall_san_antonio, I noticed someone mentioned no hybrid bermuda seed are sold in bags. Hybrid bermuda are only available as sod. Not sure how true is this.. Mine is called Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers.

Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers is the scientific name for all common bermudagrass. The seedless hybrids of bermuda would look like Cynodon dactylon x transvaalensis which would be Cynodon dactylon (common bermuda) crossed with Cynodon transvaalensis (South African bermuda). These crossbred varieties are seedless, so you'll never find a bag of seed. These plants are so different from common bermuda that I would call them a mutation, but scientifically that word is reserved for other purposes.

There are improved varieties of both common and hybrid bermuda. In my previous post I loosely stated that you had a hybrid of the seeded varieties. A better way of saying that would be that you have an improved version of the seeded varieties. Again, there are improved versions of both seeded and hybrid.

The most common seedless hybrid is Tifway 419, also called Tif 419. It was developed in Tifton, Georgia, if that helps you with the naming of the variety. There are many Tif varieties in the catalog. They are all crosses with the C. transvaalensis variety from South Africa.
