When you have a cooktop with a separate oven below, the oven is so low that the oven door is almost at the ground. Awkward and not comfortable to work with. In addition, separate cooktop and oven are more expensive than just getting the range. In addition, if you ever need to change the cooktop in the future, you will be unlikely to find one the exact same size which means you will have to do additional counter cutout for the new one, if that is even possible. A range is much easier.

You don't say whether it is the cooktop or the wall oven that is the sourcing issue. If you can get the wall oven, I'd like to suggest a rangetop with it, not a cooktop. A rangetop is like a range, but just the top part. Therefore the knobs are not taking up valuable cooktop surface area, and it does not need a special cutout in your counter. It just fits between the two counter pieces the way a range would.

Regarding the front controls, we got a GE Profile gas slide-in range 2-1/2 years ago. Controls are on the front. We paid about $1750 at an indie dealer on a big sale.
