I love rug. As for black curtains I agree with you it would be too much drama.:-)) You can go with white or beige ones.

Maybe look at silver curtains with white sheers. I see silver in lamps, pillows and art.

If you get the rug your dog likes, then lamp on the right.

Ruggable might have just the rug you need with a pet. With the high short widow I'd try a roman shade. I like the right side lamp but the left side shade.

I really do not understand rugs under beds so I often just use a mat on each side to set your feet on as for the style with that bedding I would go all out glam . So some nice fluffy sheepskin mats o fake ones and probable silver drapes , the black shade but with a bit of bling and maybe one red pillow on the bed so the big pillows at the back only 2 white ones and then a really nice red bolster at the front maybe one with flower type petals . Are those night tables high gloss or more laminate look ? If laminate I would look for mirrored ones .If those are real plants great and if fake get rid of them.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting, unfortunately, this room needs a rug because it’s over my master bedroom and there’s currently too much overheard sound transferance. 😌

Here’s a picture of the room with the burlap lap shades and textured curtains…. now that i no longer have blank lamps, i think that black curtains may be best, lol. I’m a tad scared that the area rug will clash with the curtains. I would love to hear your thoughts.

As much as I love natural fiber rugs, I have learned the hard way that cats and dogs do not work well with them. It's more the bodily fluids from the pets (if you catch my drift) that are really tough to clean out of the weaves on these rugs. HOWEVER...check out flor.com...you can purchase rug tiles that are placed together to form a rug of whatever size you need. They are beautiful and indestructable...if something gets spilled on mine, all I have to do is wipe and blot or, worst case scenario, rinse off the tile that happens to be soiled in the laundry room sink. My rug is over fifteen years old and looks like new (honestly). Tons of patterns including ones that look like natural fiber rugs...that's what made me think of it.

@decoenthusiaste we‘d love to get a roman or cellular (1/2 up, 1/2 down) shade on that window but it’s 140 inches so every company that we spoke to (Costco, select blinds, 3 day blinds) told us no can do… The only option its to buy 2 or shades instead of one. 😌

Even with roman shades, this particular bedroom would still need need some sheers because this room gets a ton of sunlight in the morning and you can see directly into it from the street at all times. 😌😌

Look into having a seamstress who does drapery help you out. Or maybe JC Penny drapery department. Custom Romans could be done'

I like the black lamps with your bedding and I would do cream drapes with white sheers on your windows.

If you add an area rug, be careful not to cover your floor vents. Pick a Cream colored rug, make sure it is pet friendly. No pattern.

I would add a bench to the front of your bed if you have room.

Taking in everyone’s feedback, here is the updated status of this bedroom. I ordered black blackout curtains to go in-front of the sheers that havent been hung yet (awaiting delivery) but wondering if white curtains woudl be best after taking this pic. I would love to know your thoughts on the best color for this bedroom’s curtains.

@njmomma this seating area faces the bed. Does it work for you or would you still prefer a bench at the end if the bed? Fyi, this is a guest bedroom.

The chairs look great! I would keep them

But also consider who will be using the guest room. Elderly people would have a hard time getting in and out of those chairs, where a bench would be easier to sit and put on shoes.

Does anyone have a strong prefernxe for the black vs. white curtains in this space? I’m almost there and could use your feedback. thanks!
