We’re doing work in our old garage and our contractor sent a heating contractor to move all of the old plumbing in the garage from below the floor joists to up in between the joists so we could insulate, put in a support beam, and sheetrock the ceiling. There was a suspended ceiling before. In the process, they cut and moved the pipes supplying a toe kick heater in the master that is supplied from the boiler. The heat no longer works.

Before, the toe kick heater blower would come on when it reached a certain temperature. Now it doesn’t come on at all. The pipe coming into the heater is hot, but the pipe coming out is cold. They tried bleeding air, no help.

The contractor’s guys are back today, again, to work on it. They had to remove the insulation that was sprayed on last week, and now I can see what they did. The supply pipe runs PAST the heater with a loop piped off it that runs through the heater and back to the supply pipe. Not into the the heater, back out and back to the interrupted supply line. The supply section is still there in between. to me this doesn’t make sense.

Am I right? could this be the problem? thanks.
