Other The Old House Design Dilemma

Panel Width on Standing Seam Roof

I will be reroofing my 1925 Spanish colonial house in Seattle w a dark bronze standing seam roof (switching it from a light weight concrete tile roof which performs horribly here). Wonder if any design experts have a preference for a 12” or 16” panel width a standing seam roofs. At the moment, I am thinking 16” as it seems will be less busy looking. Appreciate any thoughts.

The real question is how the seam is handled. I live in a historic district which requires hidden fasteners and a crimped seam- many of the interlocking styles have a flat ridge on top of the standing seam which looks too modern.

If i remember correctly this is 16” snap lock standing seam and to avoid any noticeable oil canning we did have it made with the ridges. I was worried about that looking to busy but it is barely noticeable
