Navy dining room

I am thinking about painting my dining room a purplish navy and my living room a yellow green color. Or visa versa or all green. (Other option is pulling a taupe from the carpet) I want some color and really want to bring the outdoors inside (we love hiking and camping). Not plants though... I am a murderer. 😭 I like the green and blue abstract and the trees picture is 1 of my favorites (will be ordering after Christmas both, fingers crossed) The insp picture with the navy, white, and that rich brown is just yummy. Living room will be getting a taupe sectional. So ignore the furniture in there for now. Also baseboards are going in the living room! Woohoo dining room has 1 that has to stay. 😖 gets to cold for just a heat pump around here unfortunately. Anyways ideas?

do it!
ummm maybe....
no way neutrals all the way.
all green

Also love this abstract and an leaning more to this one. When I did the color wheel. It was purple blue (navy), yellow green, and an orange red. Very vibrant. I need some life into my space.

I like your ideas, I’d just make sure the bold and dramatic styles would flow well with the rest of your house. It’s impossible to say just seeing a couple of pictures.

You might try painting your dining room first and living with it a bit, see if you like it. If not, repainting one room isn’t a huge thing to change.

From what I can see, your home‘s age looks to be somewhere between the 50’s to 70’s?

That blue dining room above is most likely not open to other rooms, which certainly makes it easier to do a very strong color and style.

Just a few things to keep in mind.

Paint your dining room! Do that room then it will be easier to see color what you need in the living room. Too many people opt for the safe things, but it is only a couple gallons of paint and one weekend! If you don’t like it, it can be repainted. Years ago, I had picked a rich, dark green for a room, but when I started painting, I was so unhappy with the way it looked next to the entry hall. Iran back to my paint store and the owner heard my story and looked at the sample of the entry paint. He said it was a simple fix, just a touch of black mixed into my green and the two paint colors became best friends! I love my Benjamin Moore paint dealer!

I did my DR BM Abyss - it's a dark navy - I have cherry furniture. Pale gray rug, curtains are navy, gray, white & turquoise. I love it. My LR is BM Camouflage (a color match to F&B Bone) which has a slight green look.

I would not do a purplish navy, IMO they usually come out too purple try for a true navy blue. You will love color on your walls. I get compliments all the time.

Some pictures. Both rooms face N so hard to get good shots

Jck910 I LOVE it especiallythe white with the navy. I will have to try some different blues out to find the right one for sure.

Completely agree. It's just paint and I want my furniture neutral so in a couple years I can change everything again!

Jinx it's a 1970'd build and unfortunately it is open up to the living room but the way the walls sit I can totally get away with more then one color.... at least I am going to try it.  Haha

I think its very nice that someone is actually asking about color for a change. Its so much white and so much gray, and so much beige or taupe. Go for it, and post a picture when you are all done.

    So thoughts anyone??

Oh I have dubed this house the diamond forest (corny I know but let's have fun). I like my sparkly what can I say. And I have always been a mud and lace kinda girl.

As long as hubby approves of course.

Can't afford the abstract (thanks medical bills we just recieved today, I thought we had already paid you!) So instead I was thinking about doing this deer though not 100% on it. I also found these bee door knobs that I am just loving right now. Thinking about getting them to go on the tops of my cabinets.  So I actually own all three bookcases and I am thinking about lining them up like that on my wall but then putting like a spotted navy wallpaper on the back of the middle. I asked for some really pretty white bakeware that will be displayed in the middle cabinet for christmas, I hope I get it. Lighting fixture for dining room. I think I might just try to get this room done first. It will be the cheapest in the main living space.

So (I highly doubt anyone is going to read this but here I am anyways haha) I have paint left over from a couple art projects I had tried out. I have loved LOVED these colors for so long!  I just couldn't figure out a way to use them. I think I have now. Meet my dining room/ living room. Blue for dining room and green living room.

Go for it. Paint is relatively cheap. I painted 2 rooms cobalt. One I loved the other I repainted. Did not regret any of it.

I would suggest keeping the walls neutral and introducing the colors you listed above with furnishing, accessories, rugs and artwork.

I would eliminate skimpy curtains for longer ones from ceiling to floor.

I am afraid that room would be doo dark. I agree to keep walls neutral with bringing some color in decor

@Celery (sorry idk how to tag) Omg were have you been all my life. I LOVE this just all of it. I know the room is going to be super dark but we are adding lots of lighting. We have the 3 floor/table lights in that area and are adding two ceiling lights.  Going to have to go with the white light and bright curtains for sure floor to ceiling. (Any suggestions on rods would be amazing) We have baseboard heaters and they are on for winter here. So I switch out curtains and then go back to full length in the summer. We are also going to put in a faux fireplace (basically a space heater) where my TV is which isnt pictured. (That area is a mess with furniture that needs to go too the garage. ). I am getting rid of those baseboard!  I loath them

As for rods I like black ones. I would replace chandelier as well.

That is an awesome room and more of the feeling I am going for though my taste do tend to lend more traditional. I really want gold in my room but husband doesn't care for it. (Not yellow but more brassy). I am trying to figure out how to balance metals (Though I have a while before we can tackle lighting ὢD) I want a brass chandelier to help add in some warmth to the space. I might try to sneak in with a table lamp.
