I’m removing the “credenza” and that black chair. So technically I’m not really adding much. What I want is to have a sofa facing the TV. Not two chairs. If I wanted two chairs facing the TV, I’d just hang the Samsung picture TV over the fireplace, and I really wouldn’t have much of a question.

Agree with oreet that adding yet another piece will really crowd your small living room. You don't need a fireplace for coziness but a better layout for yourselves. Can you show the other side of the room? Perhaps you could float your sofa to face the wall where the sofa is now. Get an attractive long, low credenza for that wall and put the TV on it. Place the chairs across from the window. This idea minus the two chairs shown in the photo near the window would be workable.

A few questions. Why are you putting a fireplace in this room - heat or aesthetics? How many people are commonly watching TV at the same time?

Add the fireplace to the end wall where you currently have the tv. Then move the sofa across from the tv/credenza with it's back to the window. That still leaves room for the two charirs where they are. That arrangment allows everyone to enjoy the fireplace, and tv viewing is good from the sofa and at least one chair. Your window is large enough that placing the sofa in front of it shouldn't matter. OR, plan the tv to use above the fireplace on the back wall, with the sofa on the long wall, two chairs facing the fireplace/tv, and another chair if needed in the corner near the fireplace.

First thing is the TV is already too high for comfy viewing. Adding a loveseat under it will be awkward looking so again no comfy feeling. My suggestion for your size room would be the TV & FP on the same wall opposite the windows. A 3-seat sofa on the back wall and a 3-seat sofa on the window wall. Loveseats are useless as 2 people usually don't sit that close together. Not a chaise type sofa like you have drawn. 2 swivel chairs in place of beige chairs. An end table with lamp in the corner of the 2 sofas. The floor lamp in the opposite corner from where it is now. A table between the swivel chairs and 2 c tables for the sofas. No coffee table. Art on the wall above the sofa.

You need to do a scale drawing before you buy furniture. The room appears to be too small for a sofa and a loveseat and two chairs and a coffee table. You won't have room to walk without climbing over furniture.

I missed the part about adding a loveseat. It's crowded now without one.

One practical suggestion. If you haven't done so already, move your furniture around to try out some different layouts before you commit to fireplace and loveseat.

No to TV above any type of seating. Here's my suggestion. Fireplace on wall where couch is now but leave room on either side if it is built in or get a free-standing electric one and then set the two chairs on either side of it. Place the sofa on the window wall, get a loveseat for opposite the fireplace and continue to have the TV opposite the window. It should be able to be viewed by all seating. What seems to be off is the scale of the pieces. I would opt for smaller chairs and removing the table. Maybe put something behind the loveseat if you need a table/storage.

@lexy67 Hi have you tried moving the sofa to the window, to see how you like that? Would be an easy change to make and test out. To answer your question about tv over loveseat, my personal opinion is I would not like the look, and also believe it becomes too furniture heavy in that size room. You might be ok with it, however.

Have you considered placing your TV above the fireplace? I don't have your room dimension details but here are my suggestions. I prefer Option 1 with an appartment size sectional.

This might be a better layout for your room. Place the chairs across from the sofa and place the loveseat at a right angle to the sofa. Place the FP on the big wall and place the TV over the fireplace.

BeverlyFLA - this is exactly my first thought when I read OP's question. The only "nudge" is I'd move those chairs just a bit further away from each other, IF space allows.

I placed the TV on the short wall above the FP to avoid the glare that will come from the open windows.

To BeverlyFLADesigner: by placing the TV facing the window you get full glare unless you close either blinds or other window covering.

I have a small long narrow living room with a fireplace on one of the long walls, so pretty much the sofa has to go on the opposite long wall. I ended up mounting a smaller TV on the wall in one corner on one of those folding arms. This way it doesn't take up any floor space and can be moved a bit closer to the seating when necessary.

My son has the TV over the love seat, and the sofa opposite it for watching. It works functionally for the room. It looks a bit odd.

I like BeverlyFLA's layout with the chairs in front of the window best. Having a sofa in front of windows just feels like it ignores or "blocks" the window too much. Having the TV over a fireplace (depending on the type of fireplace and how close you can place the TV it) may still be too high for comfortable viewing if the room is "short".

Your room is small, and you want to fit A LOT in it. Your furniture looks as though you lean contemporary. You might consider a lower, longer, fire place, and then a TV could be placed over it and it could be watched without getting a crick in your neck. A sectional would buy you a few more inches of walkway if wanting to fit 2 chairs as well. If you are married to having the TV on the adjacent wall it would be more pleasing to have the two chairs places under the TV then a love seat. Marking out your furniture on the floor with painters tape, and then taking a walk through your room might help you to get a feel for how it will live

For a room that size, I wouldn't add a fireplace. My sister removed the fireplaces from both her family room and living room, and never regretted it. So much easier to arrange furniture in a functional way. Obviously YMMV.

Here's a floor plan showing some of your existing furniture and updating a few pieces. Your rug looked a bit worn in the picture so I proposed a Ruggable rug, I own one and there's fantastic, have a look at their website you'll see they are wash & dry in your home appliances. Again, the plan shows all the furniture you want to integrate without having your room dimensions.

It looks like the easiest solution would be to hang the TV over the fireplace going on the wall where the sofa currently is. You should be able to place the sofa facing the TV or on the window wall. Then you could add more seating if there is space.
