Post an image of your situation. Should you be mounting the draperies to the wall or the ceiling?

Here are the pictures. the back wall is about 17 feet.

The length is determined by the room - the diameter is determined by the curtains you select. The curtains should come with specifications for the rod diameter.

I havenr decided on the curtains yet. If one inch rod doesnt look bad, then i can just get it mounted and find a curtain that fits it.

Everything i have liked so far is the rod pocket style . so i think these would be fine as long as they look ok. I want to start with something and see how the room looks. then maybe change down the road if need be.

It also has to do with how heavy the drapes are. If you have a long expanse you need a support in the middle, and even then a one inch diameter won't be able to support something heavy like a lined, linen drapery without bowing/drooping. If you're hanging sheers the smaller rods work fine.

not going with sheers but definitely not something very heavy. its a short stretch , 5 feet. besides i have to start somewhere. for curtains i want to try something not that expensive to see how the curtains will look hanging as before i had choppy curtains covering the windows. so i have never had curtains flanking the bed before.

if they look good, i can always upgrade my rod and panels .
