There is a cowpea named "Whipporwill", which I grow. If that is what you have, it is NOT a soup pea (as in English pea) and requires warm weather & warm soil. Could you describe the seeds, or provide the source?

I bought the seeds from heirseeds.com but it's not on their site now, so maybe they're out of them. It's a tiny seed, about the size of a small pea, light brown with darker brown speckles, height listed on package is 36".

I found it on the site you mentioned; it is Vigna unguiculata, a cowpea.
