Adorable!! There are hundreds of species of Aloe. IDK why anybody thinks hybrids are necessary. It seems like more than enough to collect the species.

Yeah, I don't get it either. My collection had included more Agave species so wanted to expand to Aloe (other than Aloe vera), and don't see the infinite Agave hybrids that are commonplace among Aloes, so guessing that Aloes just hybridize readily, but not sure.

They do indeed hybridize easily.

True, but many of the true species get quite large, even into trees, with some of those needing particular environments to flower, at any rate; the man-made hybrids are usually small, colourful, and much easier than, say, Aloe falcata, to grow to adulthood / flowering. Also, money.

The new colorful hybrids are all over the place now. Always see them in Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes'. Stay small and bloom many times a year.

I purchased that one above in a clearance rack for about $3.

I also have the variegated version of the one you showed.

It was a cutting just rooted so the leaves are super thin due to no water.

Yes, aloes hybridize easy, and also with few other plants, like gasteria. There are many very nice hybrids but also many 'wild' ones - un-named & not really special...Nice hybrids stay small; have great colors & bloom often as Stush 2049 said (I have few from him too! TY Stush!) Variegated nobilis is really nice.
