Color brain fog, help!

Happy new year to everyone! Hope it's been a good start. I need help, I was starting to get my man cave in order but became under the weather and having serious brain fog. I bought the rug and really want to love it, I was going to get another couch set but can't right now, so do anyone see anything I can do to make this work for now. I can't find a stand I like, has to be at least 70 inches long. The tv is 75 inch. I want to paint or add nice wallpaper behind the tv wall. I showed the other side of the basement to show the length of the wall where the TV hangs on. Thinking pool table and light panels. I am lost tho. I don't have measurements as of now, but the black white rug is 7 x 9ft. And besides houzz, is there any other sources to read tips on home design? Thanks

The rug is a bit small but i see you have two, you could try turning the rug and using both of them to fill the space if you really like it.

The console for the tv should actually be about 80 inches, so it's longer than the tv.

I would type in the man cave to google and just look at some images to get a feel for what you like, you can upload those to a folder on here so we can get a better feel.

Simple things to start with are :

    Window coverings

    Paint colors

    lighting

    art work, displays

    Bar area?

if it were mine, I would start by painting the entire TV wall a flat black.

Put both matching rugs in fron of it and put the front legs of the furniture ON the rug.

I would lower the TV to center eye level when seated.

When you are finished with that, sit down and see what else you feel you need. Have fun, it's a process.

Fix the lighting first, before you add any more dark and depressing things. You need recessed lights for general lighting, and lamps for task and ambiance.

The TV console should be about 94" long if your TV is 75" wide.

Personally, I would put in an Air Hockey table and challenge all the kids on the block.

Air hockey is my favorite, until I keep getting hit in the hand with the puck lol. To the pro with the mockup, is this a gray on the wall? And I like the window wall, how would i best achieve that? Are the pictures on a shelf?

yes, a shelf, i was thinking rustic wood look. I like air hockey too lol.

First have a vision for room and inspiration pictures can really help; take your time to find pieces that work together.

I could see using navy to create a cozier space and just paint selected walls. Hopefully you can return your rug (if you want to) and a jute rug would be lighter, is not expensive (try Ikea). Example of color combination.

Ikea has low bookcases and using three, secured together and painted is an inexoensive to get a nice long unit.

You could add floating shelves. Accessorizing will be important as well, like posters and cushions.

Curtains could do with updating. One below comes in different sizes.

    Close up:

Depending on your budget, a large square coffee table would a nice addition and even try Marketplace for great used fines.

Maureen, you're missing an air hockey table.

The space requires a larger rug. There's nothing wrong with your seating, but the space could be helped with some paint on the walls.

You guys have given me light! I still can return the rugs and I'll get a larger one, maybe 9 by 11 or 12. Black and white are my go to lazy colors and the current rug was a safe choice but I need to be bold and creative. You all keep talking ice hockey and I was thinking I would love a part of the basement to be icy cold blue whitish, I'm a winter baby and I love subzero from mortal kombat so... Lol. But I am considering and utilizing all the info provided by you all. Thank you so much for jump starting me. Time to get my first home and man cave in order!
