Any thoughts on this table? It’s a more formal style of light wood which I think would go nicely with the floors.

Personally, I think a light table is not going to work in here. I would go for the darker stains in a charcoal or even black.

I don't even like what the previous owners had in there. The kitchen and floors are warm colors but their table and rug were cool gray. I think as long as you keep it warm you will be OK. You already understand not to match the table to the floor. I think a darker color will work better but I do like the idea of lighter colored upholstered chairs.

Your last inspo pic is the best one, you could even use washable slipcovers for the chairs (toddler hands lol). I also think you could convert one of the can lights to a chandelier to break things up a bit.maybe look at "rustic modern"

I don’t like a light wood table with your cherry cabinets and granite countertops. I think a black or dark charcoal table would look nice. I’d look for a table with simple lines like this one (this particular table may be too large for your space though).

I think that kitchen will play well with rustic touches. Just get the colors right.

(Glass is actually a great material for toddlers. Cleans up well and the most scratch-resistant material out there. Put a cloth on it if the kid is going through a bonking-the-head-from-not-looking-where-they're-going stage.

Nothing wobbly, of course!)

do you have any plans on painting the cabs or changing out the granite?

if so, then you could do the more rustic table you like.

Personally I'd paint those cabs (if they're in good shape and a solid wood) They look like a cherry stain, not actual cherry wood.

If you like the granite, it would also work w/a white cabinet. and you could decide if you want to do a nice tile backsplash

I think it looks nice w/the all white cabs (perhaps you could leave the island as is, or paint it a diff color?)

Remove your 4" piece if you plan on doing a tile splash.

BTW, here are some great color combos to work w/that granite and your flooring.

For example, if you wanted to do white cabs (pick a white w/a red undertone, not yellow or blue) and do the island in a darker color, some othese would work.

these whites I've put on these photoshops should go perfectly w/your granite. They look pink, but the column on the right are whites that lean on the red undertone side( pink) so you'll get that tone. Which is perfect w/your granite/flooring.

I really like the Breathless and Dreamy White combo for the cabinets and wall.

And, if you wanted to keep the red cabinets, any of these colors would also work on the wall.

If you're keeping the red cabs, some of these colors would work for you table/chairs, or acccents

going off in a slight sage color w/hints or warm gray, would also work

Thank you all so much for your suggestions so far! Much as I love a painted cabinet I think they’ll be staying as is for now - my husband is the cook and he likes the wood, so he gets that vote. 😂 I was looking at my own photos that I took (not the professional ones from Zillow) and the space looks different in the real lighting. The cabinets are less obviously red. Attached is my shot, and the current wall colors (perhaps a light mint and a purple-grey wallpaper).

Youre right, cabs really aren't that red. (that wall color though,,,just NO! man oh man, repainting the walls will have a huge effect on the overall look. that minty green is horrid.

what you need is better lighting, paint on the walls, and newer cabinet hardware. here's a quick mock-up of a few ideas. paint, hardware, perhaps a backsplash tile?

I like these gold pulls instead of those knobs. perhaps on the drawers w/the holes in the center, you could do a cup pull to hide them?

You could remove the 4" backsplash and do some nice tile :

shown here with a soft gold handle. do the cup pulls or a matching knob where you have the center holes.

And, one last thing, you need some more lighting

Get some decent under cabinet lighting in the 3500-4000K temp bulbs. ditto for your recessed bulbs should be 4000K.

You could do some pendants over that island: a few diff styles.

Bring in a coordinating light for the table.

The reddish cabinets are very pretty. I'd go with something similar for a table, but I like more traditional style. I liked the suggestion someone made of slipcovers on chairs. I wish I had more to suggest that hasn't already been suggested. I would never paint those unless they were messed up and needed to be covered.
