Custom Brushed Stainless Range Hood

I just finished a kitchen renovation. i had this beautiful custom range hood made as focal point of kitchen. It is made of brushed stainless steel & brass.

Here is the issue when it was installed there were fingerprints from the guys who installed. I didn’t want to try to clean until I spoke with company where I purchased hood to make sure I followed their direction. They said they would contact the Artisan that made hood & get back with me, I’ve been waiting patiently & they have been keepibg in touch with me. Finally they contacted me yesterday by phone & followed up with email, thry said warm water, mild detergent & microfibre cloth almost dry cloth which is what I’ve done, see photos after I cleaned very disappointed with the outcome. I have sent email with pics back to supplier but thought I would post here & see if I can get help or direction. This is a very expensive hood!

Barkeepers Friend cleans the stainless in every restaurant around. Always rub with the grain.

You're going to need to get used to cleaning and polishing it pretty vigorously. It’s the only way to keep the brass from tarnishing.

    Thanks

If it's greasy fingerprints (and/or manufacturing oils), try something like stinky old Pine Sol. It won't hurt anything.

I also have a brushed stainless steel range hood. I clean it with warm dishsoap and water using a microfiber cloth. For stubborn greasy thumbprints, I use a plastic coated sponge and rub lightly. Your hood is lovely!

With stainless appliances, you can't just clean one section, you have to clean the whole thing at once and in the same direction of the "grain", so you don't end up with streaks or marks.

Why can't it be cleaned like any other stainless steel product? Weiman stainless steel wipes?

I'm being told by the company because it is raw brushed stainless that it could be a problem

Isn't brushed stainless just stainless that has been given a duller texture? I have a brushed stainless sink and treat it no different than my other stainless sink.

Good question. It seems ridiculous having to go through this, but obviously I didn't want to do anything that was going to make worse. The company I purchased from just sent me a video that artisan sent them & it clearly shows they have used simple full strength dish washing soap, scrubbed pretty hard then took cloth & wiped off & marks gone, so I guess this is the next step. I feel like I shouldn't have to be doing this that the company should supply somebody to do this for me.

Especially since it is ”a very expensive hood.”

Yes for sure. The company i bought from sent me a video from the artisan that made it, & showed dark stains & prints & they used full strength dish soap then really scrubbed & dried so that’s what I’ll try next.
