I think a console (for the TV to sit on) would be better and pull it out flush with the FP edge (not the hearth). Right now it looks like it's in a dep hole. A picture of the entire room would

A TV arm that lets the TV articulate out from the wall is the key here. It can extend out and let you view with ease while in use. Underneath you can have a console of needed fpr any AV equipment, but not needed for the TV to actually sit on.

Here is a better picture of the space. im wondering if a console would look better filling the wall length wise or if i should search for something that would leave a gap on both sides?

IMO your room requires something that will allow you to bring the TV out to the FACE of the stone wall.
