Stile width for inset shaker cabinet

My cabinet maker is saying I cannot do a 2” stile on my inset shaker face-framed cabinet doors because the hinge he uses requires more stile width (at least 2.5”).

I am clearly seeing narrow stiles online in pictures, so how are these cabinet makers accomplishing this?


ETA: if you have shaker inset doors with narrower stiles than 2.5”, could you post a picture of you inside cabinet door?
